Labor MP Dismissed From Shadow Cabinet After Accusing Fellow Party Member of Corruption

New South Wales (NSW) Labor MP Tania Mihailuk has lost her position in the shadow ministry after criticising a fellow party member running for the state’s upper house.
Labor opposition leader Chris Minns on Friday said he had dismissed Mihailuk from his cabinet, accusing her of making “political attacks by parliamentary privilege.”
But NSW Liberal Premier Dominic Perrottet stood by Mihailuk, saying Labor was trying to silence people exposing alleged corruption by party members.
Mihailuk on Tuesday night raised concerns about Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour linking him to corrupt former Labor Minister Eddie Obeid.
Obeid was charged with the offence of misconduct in public office following an investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). In 2021, he was found guilty of conspiring to grant a mining exploration licence in 2009, helping his family make $30 million from the deal….
