Active-Duty Military Suicides Increase Annually in 2023, Pentagon Data Show

Suicides among active-duty military increased in the first three months of this year compared to the first quarter of 2022, according to a new Pentagon report.
The number of military suicides rose 25 percent, from 75 in the first quarter of 2022 to 94 in the first quarter of 2023, the Defense Suicide Prevention Office said in its annual report (pdf).
That is the highest number of active-duty suicides in the military since 97 were reported in the second quarter of 2021, according to the Military Times.
